New Patients

Your first visit, made easy

Natural medicine can feel new. Here is exactly what to expect, what to bring and how the visit works, so patients can walk in relaxed.

What to Expect

From booking to your personalized plan

Book & share your history

Schedule online through Zocdoc, by phone, or via the contact form. Some health history is gathered ahead of time so the visit stays focused on the patient.

An unhurried first consultation

The initial visit is a thorough conversation about health, lifestyle, history and goals. The Institute treats the person, not just the disease — many patients say it’s the first time a doctor truly listened.

Assessment across three traditions

The assessment may include an Ayurvedic constitutional evaluation, a naturopathic exam and lab review, and a Chinese-medicine evaluation to understand the full picture.

Your individualized plan

The plan is designed together and may combine nutrition, herbal medicine, bodywork, acupuncture, detox therapies like colon hydrotherapy, and lifestyle guidance — all tailored to the patient.

Ongoing support & follow-up

Healing is a partnership. The plan is adjusted over follow-up visits, and the physicians stay available between appointments through the patient portal.

What to Bring

Come prepared

  • A photo ID and your insurance card
  • A list of current medications and supplements
  • Recent lab work or relevant medical records, if you have them
  • Notes on your main concerns, symptoms and health goals
  • Any completed intake forms we send ahead of time

Please arrive a few minutes early for the first visit, and provide 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule.

Insurance & Payment

Coverage made clear

The practice’s naturopathic physicians are in-network with:

  • Aetna
  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • ConnectiCare
  • Oxford

Naturopathic first visits and follow-ups are usually covered by these plans — please confirm naturopathic benefits with your insurer. Ayurvedic therapies (Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Panchakarma) and colon hydrotherapy are typically self-pay. We’re happy to walk you through costs when you book — just call (203) 331-9111.

Before You Come

Quick answers

Is naturopathic medicine right alongside my regular doctor?

Yes. The care here is designed to complement conventional medicine, and the physicians are glad to coordinate with a patient’s other providers as part of an integrative plan.

How long is the first appointment?

Initial consultations are longer than a typical doctor’s visit, allowing time to understand a patient’s full health story. An estimate is provided at the time of booking.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to book. If an insurance plan requires one for naturopathic visits, the office staff will help sort it out.

Can the whole family come?

Absolutely. The practice cares for all ages, from prenatal and pediatric through geriatric.
